About This Tool

The DropThe Crypto Comparison tool lets you place any two cryptocurrencies side by side and measure them across every metric that matters. With more than 16,000 coins and tokens in our database, you can compare everything from Bitcoin and Ethereum to the smallest altcoins and newly launched DeFi tokens -- all using the same consistent data framework.

Every comparison is broken into four distinct sections. The Price section covers current price, market capitalization, and 24-hour trading volume -- the three numbers that define a coin's immediate market presence. The Supply section details circulating supply, total supply, and maximum supply, giving you a clear picture of tokenomics and inflation potential. The Performance section shows price changes over 24 hours, 7 days, and 30 days, alongside all-time high and all-time low data so you can see where a coin stands relative to its own history.

The Profile section captures the fundamentals: consensus mechanism (Proof of Work, Proof of Stake, Delegated PoS, and others), launch date, ticker symbol, and category classification (Layer 1, DeFi, Stablecoin, Meme, Gaming, and more). These details matter when you are evaluating the technical foundation and market positioning of a project.

Data refreshes every 15 minutes to reflect the volatile nature of cryptocurrency markets. Prices are sourced from aggregated exchange data, and market metrics are cross-referenced across multiple data providers including CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap APIs. Whether you are deciding between two investment options, researching tokenomics for a report, or simply curious how your favorite altcoin stacks up against a blue-chip crypto, this tool gives you the full picture in seconds.

Where Does This Data Come From?

Cryptocurrency data in the DropThe database is aggregated from multiple authoritative sources. Price, market cap, and volume data come from CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap APIs, which aggregate prices across hundreds of exchanges to provide volume-weighted averages. Supply figures (circulating, total, and max) are sourced from each project's on-chain data and verified against multiple aggregators.

Performance metrics (24h, 7d, 30d price changes) are calculated from historical price snapshots. All-time high and all-time low values include the date they were reached. Profile data such as consensus mechanism and category classification is maintained through a combination of automated enrichment and manual curation.

Data refreshes every 15 minutes during active market hours. Because cryptocurrency markets operate 24/7/365, this means continuous updates. We display the most recent data available and clearly mark any metric where data is missing or unavailable for a given coin.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many cryptocurrencies are in the database?
We track over 16,000 cryptocurrencies and tokens, covering every major coin as well as thousands of altcoins, DeFi tokens, meme coins, and newly launched projects.
How fresh is the price data?
Crypto data refreshes every 15 minutes. Because cryptocurrency markets are highly volatile and operate around the clock, we use a short cache window to ensure you see near-real-time prices and market data.
What do the performance percentages mean?
The 24h, 7d, and 30d change percentages show how much the price has moved over that time period. A positive number means the price went up; a negative number means it went down. These are calculated from historical price snapshots.
What is the difference between circulating supply and max supply?
Circulating supply is the number of coins currently available on the market. Max supply is the maximum number of coins that will ever exist (some coins like Ethereum have no max supply). Total supply includes coins that exist but may be locked or reserved.
Where does the data come from?
Price and market data is aggregated from CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap, which source prices from hundreds of cryptocurrency exchanges worldwide. Profile data like consensus mechanism and category is maintained through our entity enrichment pipeline.
