Net Worth Calculator
Calculate your total net worth by listing all assets and debts, with a visual breakdown and global wealth percentile estimate.
About This Tool
Net worth is the single most important number in personal finance. It is the difference between everything you own (assets) and everything you owe (debts). While income measures how much money flows in, net worth measures how much wealth you have actually accumulated. A person earning $200,000 per year with $500,000 in debt has a lower net worth than someone earning $50,000 with $300,000 in savings and no debt. This calculator helps you quantify your financial position clearly.
The tool works by letting you add individual assets and debts with custom names and values. Common categories are pre-loaded as quick-add presets: cash and savings accounts, home equity, investment portfolios, vehicles, credit card balances, student loans, and mortgage balances. You can add as many line items as you need and remove any that do not apply. As you enter values, the calculator updates your total assets, total debts, and net worth in real time.
A pie chart visualization breaks down your asset allocation at a glance, showing the relative size of each asset category. This visual representation can reveal concentration risk -- if 90% of your net worth is tied up in a single property or asset class, you may want to consider diversification strategies. The chart uses distinct colors for each category, making it easy to identify your largest holdings.
Beyond the raw number, the calculator estimates your global wealth percentile using data derived from the Credit Suisse Global Wealth Report. This places your net worth in the context of the roughly 5.4 billion adults worldwide. The thresholds are approximate: the top 1% globally holds more than $1.1 million, the top 10% more than $138,000, and the median global adult has roughly $8,654 in net worth. Our simplified percentile bands provide a quick reference for where you stand on the global scale.
Tracking net worth over time is one of the most effective ways to measure financial progress. Many financial advisors recommend calculating your net worth quarterly or annually. Increases in net worth -- whether from paying down debt, saving more, or investment gains -- indicate forward progress regardless of what is happening with your income. This tool makes that tracking easy and private, with all calculations happening in your browser.

Where Does This Data Come From?
Net worth is calculated as: Total Assets minus Total Debts. Each asset and debt entry is summed independently, and the difference gives your net worth. The pie chart displays asset categories as proportional slices using inline SVG with calculated arc paths.
The global wealth percentile estimate uses approximate thresholds derived from the Credit Suisse Global Wealth Report, which surveys adult wealth distribution across all countries. The thresholds used are: top 1% at $1.1 million or more, top 5% at $580,000+, top 10% at $138,000+, top 25% at $32,000+, top 50% at $8,654+ (global median). These figures represent net worth in USD and are population-weighted estimates. Individual country distributions differ significantly -- median net worth in the United States ($107,000) is much higher than the global median. All calculations run entirely in your browser with no data transmitted to any server.
